Ice Painting

Posted on 1/20/2012 by Unknown | 0 comments

We've all seen ice sculptures, but this is natures way of painting the water. This is ice on the Mystic River that seldom forms unless it's below 15 degrees. It looks like it was painted by the guy from PBS with the giant afro and soft voice. Remember that guy? He always painted those pristine, yet fake landscapes from nowhere. I loved watching him. I can hear him describing his techniques on this one. Enjoy.

Winter Weed

Winter Survivor. I always thought these winter weeds were quite delicate. Enjoy.

Lighted Forest

There is a drive through theme park of lights somewhere near Alliance, OH that we happened on a few years ago. Thankfully there was a nice snow cover and some really cool lighting displays. Merry Christmas to all. Enjoy.

Frost Mosaic

Posted on 12/22/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

This is just crazy. New England, three days before Christmas and it was 55 out today. Almost balmy. To get myself in the spirit of Christmas, I thought I'd post this ice mosaic that formed on my car earlier in December on one of the few cold nights. I love the way nature forms it's own patterns. It looks like leaves on the roof, but it's only ice crystals forming on the metal. Pretty cool. Enjoy.

Winter on the Mystic

Just getting in the spirit of things this time of year brings me to this photo. I took this last year on the John Hand bridge in Medford, MA. This is adjacent to my offices which are off to the right. It was such a beautiful morning after a soft and thick overnight snowfall. Enjoy.

Winter benches

After a recent snowstorm, I was out taking photos and saw these three benches that I've sat on during the summer, but they just didn't look very inviting on this night.  Enjoy.

Blizzard of 2010. NOT

Posted on 12/27/2010 by Unknown | 0 comments

Winter Blizzard of 2010.  It was a huge storm, but we only got about 16" here in Medford, MA.  This photo begged to get the old fashioned treatment.  Enjoy.

Snowy Midwest Weather

Posted on 12/12/2010 by Unknown | 0 comments

While it's pouring rain and 50 degrees out here in Boston, I know the midwest is preparing for a monster winter storm.  This is a photo of the Mystic River after a snowfall a few years back.  This is the John Hand Bridge, my office is on the ground floor of the red brick building.  Enjoy and stay warm.

Grace Episcopal Church in Winter

Posted on 9/25/2010 by Unknown | 0 comments

It was unseasonably hot today in the upper 80's, so I thought I'd cool down and post up a winter time photo.  This is a photo of one of the entrances to Grace Episcopal Church here in Medford, MA.  This is one of the few buildings in Boston that was designed by famous Architect H. H. Richardson.  I believe I took this after the blizzard had passed and it was a beautiful night.  Enjoy.
