Duck Trails on the Mystic:

Posted on 1/05/2014 by Unknown | 0 comments

You know it's cold when the Mystic River freezes over.  It takes a few nights around zero for this to happen.  I order to get the starburst effect on the sunset, you have to increase your F-stop to as high as it will go.  Enjoy.

Bridge from the other side. Medford, MA:

You've seen it before in my pics, but this is a shot of the John Hand bridge spanning the Mystic River from the opposite side looking back at my office.  My office is just over the bridge in the ground level of the brick building.  Enjoy.

The Lonely Bench

A park bench sits isolated on the park by the Mystic River the day of the Blizzard of 2013.  Enjoy

Sunset over the Upper Mystic Lake.  Remnants of a dock of days gone by.  Enjoy.

Crappy weather photo shoot

Posted on 1/21/2012 by Unknown | 0 comments

I don't have the luxury of taking tons of photos with gorgeous models, so when my daughter has her girlfriends over, I coax them into a photo shoot.  This is my daughter's good friend from across the country who came in December to visit during the holidays.  The weather was very crappy, rainy, overcast, misty, and foggy, so I brought a reflector down by the Mystic River, and made the best of the giant soft box from the sky.  I'm lucky all her girlfriends love the camera.  Enjoy.

It finally snowed!

Posted on 1/17/2012 by Unknown | 0 comments

We finally had our first snow in New England. I wouldn't call it much of anything, but I thought I'd post this pic of the Mystic River from one of last year's snowstorms to get us in the mood for more. It's going to be 45 today, so it won't last long. Enjoy.

Orange Line Sunset

Fall sunset over the Mystic River. The bridge in the background is the Orange Line commuter rail. Enjoy

Leaves a Fire

Posted on 11/17/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

How's this for a view outside my office? Add a little soft focus and warmth and the trees look like they are on fire. So sad the leaves are almost gone. The colors turned so erratically this fall, I had a hard time finding a bunch of trees turning color at the same time. Enjoy.

The Framing Branch

Posted on 11/15/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

When near a river, I'm always looking for branches to frame buildings, bridges, etc.   Fall is a great time of year to get the leaves to provide a color punch.  This is the Rt.16 Bridge over the Mystic River.  I kind of cheated, it's right outside my office.  I had to noodle my camera outside the fence and hold it against the rail to steady this hand held shot.  Enjoy.

Don't Forget to Look Down

Posted on 10/20/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

Don't forget to look down.  It's fall, and everyone talks about the trees, the trees and their beautiful colors.  Don't forget those colorful leaves end up on the ground and can create some beautiful colored displays.  These are a few shots I took this morning on my walk to work.  Even the base of the tree was coated in a rich green moss that extends to the root down the hill.  Enjoy.

Amelia Earhart Dam

Posted on 6/19/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

It's not the most beautiful of buildings, but without this 1967 built Dam, the Mystic River would still be a tidal river.  I took this sunset photo where I hadn't intended on taking a photo of it.  Thank you mother nature for the wonderful sky.  Happy Fathers Day,  Enjoy.

Mystic River Sunset

It looked like it was going to be a good night for some sunset pics.  This one was taken from the Craddock Bridge in Medford Square looking over the Mystic River.  Enjoy.

Medford Square

Posted on 3/03/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

TIME is running down on my year as President of the Rotary Club here in Medford.   It's gone by very fast and there is only 4 months left.  This is a photo of the fours sided clock the Rotary donated to Medford Square about 10 years ago.  We just did a refurbish on it and it looks even better at night when it's lit up.  Enjoy.

Train in Motion

West Medford train stop after the snowstorm.  The train was pulling away from the stop and I purposely took the longer exposure to grab the streaking purple line.  Enjoy.

The Fluffy Stuff

Posted on 2/02/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

Here is a shot of the John Hand foot bridge across the Mystic River during the light (10") fluffy snowstorm of 2/1/11.  Taken just outside my office on my patio.  Notice the swan just passing under the bridge.  Enjoy.

Mystic River post Blizzard

Posted on 1/30/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

I posted the nighttime shot of the RT.16 Bridge over the Mystic River, here is the next day shot w/ the snow clinging to the trees.  This is right behind my office and I've posted several variations of this shot at different times of the year.  Enjoy.

Rt. 16 Bridge over the Mystic River

Posted on 1/25/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

Yep, I almost slipped and fell into the Mystic River (again) on this one.  I didn't see what was below the 16" of snow and took a dive.  It's all worth it in photography right?  Fortunately, no one saw me do it, so I'll never be embarrassed about it.  Another 12" expected tomorrow.  Enjoy..

St. Joseph's Church, Medford, MA

Posted on 1/24/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

It looks like we are going to get another 12 - 15" of snow on Thursday.  Another photo opportunity perhaps?  This is a shot of St. Joseph's Church here in Medford shortly after our last blizzard a two weeks ago.   Lots of snow this year.  Enjoy.

Nightime on the Mystic River - Post Blizzard Style

Posted on 1/20/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

I took this photo on my photowalk the night of our recent blizzard.  This is a three stop HDR image taken from the John Hand bridge looking towards Rt. 16.  The heavy snowfall was casually resting on the Mystic River and weighing the tree limbs down.  The sky still had some blue hues from the recent sunset.  Enjoy.

Snowfall on Governors Ave

Posted on 1/18/2011 by Unknown | 0 comments

The morning after the Blizzard of 2011 provided some great photo opportunities.  Snow still clinging to everything on Governors Ave. makes for a beautiful sunrise photo.  Enjoy.
